Re: Distribution of Uniforms and note books to poor students studying in Government Schools.
Education is the ladder which can take one to the highest position in life. This is the reason why Prophet Muhammad (SAS) emphasized the need of education time and again.
Foundation for Economic and Educational Development â€" FEED is striving hard for the past few years to meet the educational needs of the community by providing facilities for school education and also by giving scholarships for higher studies to poor and meritorious students. In addition to the 66 Urdu medium and 6 English medium schools run by FEED, it is felt necessary to provide school uniforms and note books to thousands of students studying in Government schools. As you are aware, the poorest of the poor children only will be admitted in the schools run by Government, in view of the nominal fees/free education.
These students can not afford to purchase note books and uniform because of the meager income of the family which is insufficient to feed the family members. As a result of this pitiable situation, these students develop inferiority complex since child hood itself, and the same will continue through out their life, leaving them in depression and make them inefficient, and frustrated in the entire career. Because of this reason, the drop-outs in class 8th, 9th and 10th are increasing year by year, as a result of which many of the seats in Minority Colleges are left unfilled. We feel it necessary to reduce the drop out rate and to see that these children continue their higher education, choose a professional career and lead a respectable life.
In the last academic year, we distributed school bags to these children. But the Teachers and Head masters advised us that, since many of these children are living in slums and attending classes with torn clothes, the distribution of uniform and note books will be more useful to them, so that they can come to the school in a dignified manner with proper clothing. Even though there are 27,000 students studying in 8th, 9th and 10th Classes in the city of Hyderabad, we are planning to cover 10,000 most deserving students in the coming academic year 2008-09.
To develop self confidence in these students from their child hood, and also to make them feel that they are second to none, we feel it necessary to provide them all possible help and facilities to continue their education uninterruptedly. Hence, we propose to supply them uniform and note books as per the following details:
