சவுதி அரேபியாவின் ஜெத்தாவில் உள்ள இந்திய சர்வதேசப் பள்ளியில் 2009 10 ஆம் கல்வி ஆண்டிற்கான சேர்க்கை விண்ணப்பங்கல் 27.12.2009 வெள்ளிக் கிழமை மாலை 5 மணி முதல் 8 மணி வரை ஆண்கள் பள்ளி வளாகத்தில் வழங்கப்படும்.
ஒவ்வொரு வகுப்பிலும் உள்ள காலியிடங்களைப் பொறுத்து விண்ணப்பங்கள் வழங்கப்படும்.
இவ்வரிய வாய்ப்பினை ஜித்தாவில் உள்ள இந்தியப் பெருமக்கள் பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்ள ஜெத்தா தாஃப்ரஜ் குழுவினர் கேட்டுக்கொள்கின்றனர்.

சவுதிக்கான இந்திய தூதருக்கு பாராட்டு விழா
சவூதி அரேபியாவில் நடைப்பெற்ற சவூதி தமிழ்ச்சங்க விழாவில் ஏராளமான தமிழர்கள் கலந்துக்கொண்டனர்.
வியாழனன்று (05.02.2009) இரவு 08:30 மணிக்கு ஜித்தாவில் உள்ள இந்திய பன்னாட்டு பெண்கள் மேல்நிலைப்பள்ளியில் நடைபெற்ற விழாவில் அந்நாட்டுக்கான இந்திய தூதர் மேதகு. எம். ஒ. ஹெச். பாரூக் மரைக்கார் அவர்களின் சீரிய பணிகளை பாராட்டி சவூதி தமிழ்ச்சங்கம் சார்பில் விழா நடத்தப்பட்டது.
முன்னதாக இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியை திரு. ராபியா தொகுத்து வழங்கினார். திரு. ஜைனுலாபிதீன் வரவேற்புரை வழங்கினார். திரு. லியாகத் அலி, திரு. ஒ. பி. ஆர். குட்டி, திரு. அக்பர் பாட்சா, திரு. அப்துல் பத்தாஹ், டாக்டர். ரபிக், சவுதிக்கான இலங்கை இணைத் தூதர் மேதகு அப்துல் லத்திப் லாபிர், மற்றும் சவூதி தமிழ்ச்சங்கத் தலைவர் திரு. அப்துல் மாலிக் ஆகியோர் வாழ்த்துரை வழங்கினர்.
இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் "அயலகத்தில் தமிழர்கள் சிறப்பதற்கு பெரிதும் காரணம் - கல்வியே! கடமையே!! கண்ணியமே!!!" என்ற தலைப்பில் பட்டி மன்றம் நடைப்பெற்றது.
நடுவராக திரு. குணசேகரன் பங்கேற்க, கல்வியே என்ற அணியில் டாக்டர். ஜெயஸ்ரீ மற்றும் திரு. ராமசந்திரன்; கடமையே என்ற அணியில் திரு. பீர் முஹம்மது மற்றும் திருமதி. ராபத்; கண்ணியமே என்ற அணியில் திருமதி. மைதிலி மற்றும் திரு செய்யது ராஜா ஆகியோர் பங்கு பெற்றனர்.
பட்டி மன்ற நடுவர் தனது தீர்ப்பில், இந்த மூன்று தலைப்புக்கும் தீர்ப்புக் கூற நம் தூதர் ஐயா தான் பொருத்தமானவர் என்று அவர்களின் முடிவிக்கே விட்டுவிட்டார்.
நிகழ்ச்சியின் முடிவில் திரு. அப்துல் சலாம் நன்றியுரை நிகழ்த்தினார்.
நிகழ்ச்சிக்குப்பின், இரவு விருந்துக்கு விழாக் குழுவினர்கள் ஏற்பாடு செய்து இருந்தனர்.
இந்த விழாவில் ஜெத்தா தமிழ் சங்கம், தஃபாரஜ்-ஜெத்தா மற்றும் கிரிட் ஆகிய அமைப்புகள் பங்கேற்றன .

Introduction:
Saudi Arabian Airlines would like to inform you that in order to achieve the optimum utilization of its flights capacity and reduce the passenger No-Show, Saudi Arabian Airlines will implement a fine for every No-Show effective 01 February 2009.
Policy:
1. Fines will be applied on passengers No-Show effective 01 February 2009 on domestic flights, on all classes.
2. To ensure the successful of this implementation, fines will be applied gradually on specific flights beginning from Jeddah-Riyadh-Jeddah.
3. Coupon Status of passengers who failed to travel (No-Show) will be changed to (suspend-s) to ensure that the passenger will only use this coupon after the fine is imposed. The amount of fine for No-Show is 25% of the value of each itinerary (travel coupon) or as a minimum of (50 Riyals) for each itinerary.
Procedures:
1. When the passenger asked for rebooking / ticket refund / re-issue of suspended coupon, he must be directed to the nearest CTO to pay for no-show fine, and then the coupon status will be re-opened.
2. Appointed GSAs located in a city where there is no Saudia CTO and appointed by Saudia to issue government tickets should follow:
a. Issuing an MPD of the fine value accredited in the sales report with the writing of: 1) ticket number, 2) ticket coupon number, and 3) the sentence: (No-Show Fee).
b. Send an email message to the Marketing Automation Programs CC775, showing: 1) the collection of fines, 2) coupon number and 3) a request to open the suspended coupon, to: saad@saudiairlines.com.sa or jedrosv@saudiairlines.com.sa

c. If a no-show passenger requests for a ticket refund, the value of no-show fine must be collected for each no-show coupon in addition to the usual fee (SAR20).

Dubai: The Dubai International Holy Quran's Islamic personality of the year has been awarded not to a personality, but to an organisation - the King Fahd Complex based in Madinah, for publishing the Holy Quran.
The award was announced in a ceremony held at the Cultural and Scientific Association in Mamzar on Thursday.
The winner gets a Dh 1 million reward for contributions and achievements in the Islamic world.
The Dubai International Holy Quran Award is now its 12th year and is held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Eighty-five contestants from different countries participated in the prestigious Quran recitation competition this year.
This is the second time that an organisation has been awarded this honour. Earlier, Al Azhar won it in the sixth year.

The organisers of Dubai International Holy Quran Awards will honour Saudi Arabia's services for Islam during the concluding ceremony of the 12th session of the annual event by bestowing the Islamic Personality of the Year Award upon the King Fahad Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran.
The King Fahad Complex is the only second organisation to get this award since its inception over a decade ago. The first organisation was the famous Al Azhar University of Cairo.
King Fahd Bin Abdel Aziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Shrines, laid the cornerstone of the Complex in 1403 AH and inaugurated it in 1405 AH. The average annual production of the Complex is 10 million copies, the distribution is the same. It has produced more than 90 editions and 165 million copies and has so far distributed more than 142 million copies to Muslims all over world continents. The Complex has published 55 different translations of the Holy Quran in 39 languages.
It always makes continuous studies and researches for the service of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah.
The Complex has the most advanced printing technologies in the world. The Complex offers each pilgrim a copy of the Mushaf on his way back home after completing Hajj rituals. Important considerations have accounted for the establishment of the Complex:
First, the increasing need of the Muslim world for the Glorious Quran and its related fields of study.
Second, the importance of providing the best services for the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH), the important role which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays in the service of Islam and Muslims.
Besides printing and distributing the Holy Quran, the complex also produces audio-recordings of the Holy Quran, translates the meaning of the Holy Quran and its interpretation, promotes Quranic fields of study, the study of the Sunnah and the Prophet's Biography, supports Islamic studies and researches and provides domestic and international networks with the Complex publications.
Since its inception in 1998, organisers of the DIHQA has honoured several eminent personalities with the Islamic Personality of the Year Award including Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Dr Yusuf Al Qardawi, Maulana Abul Hasan Nadwi, Mohammed Mutwali Al Shaarawi, Dr Alija Izetbegovic, Dr Abdullah Bin Abdul Mohsin Al Turki, Al Azhar University, renowned Islamic scholar Dr Mohammed Saeed Ramadan Al Bouti and renowned Islamic scholar Dr Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz Al Sudais.

RIYADH: King Saud University yesterday announced the discovery of a new lung cancer biomarker by a team of scientists and students led by V. Masilamani of the College of Science.
KSU Rector Abdullah Al-Othman told reporters at a press briefing that the research team headed by Masilamani would bring international fame to the university.
Cancer biomarkers are certain proteins found highly elevated in blood plasma due to the abnormal metabolic activity of cancer cells. Examining biomarkers can be useful in diagnosing cancer.
Masilamani said using the procedure cancer could be diagnosed by testing 5ml blood and 5ml urine. He added that an expert committee set up by the Indian Council of Medical Research has validated this particular protocol. The procedure can be used to diagnose different kinds of cancer.
"We want to become a world class university for research and development," Al-Othman said, adding that the university would recruit more professionals for its research department in the near future.
He said SR350 million had been collected as part of a major research and development program that is being carried out with the support of businessmen to boost the Kingdom's scientific and technological progress.
"It received tremendous support from businessmen and philanthropists, paving the way for launching academic chairs for important topics. The university is also planning to set up an endowment fund worth SR500 million," he said.

Global: Life Behind the Abaya: Under Cover in Saudi Arabia

My first reaction is to refuse to go - I will not visit Saudi Arabia if I am required to wear a 'burkha' (veil), when my husband need not observe any Islamic dress codes. However, curiosity ultimately wins over feminist indignation.
On arrival at Riyadh airport I am escorted very politely to the separate "Ladies Lounge", while husband proceeds to the main lounge. As I sit, I can't help but admire the paintings and other works of art, the velvet furnishings and ornate fittings. Almost like some royal palace. I catch myself thinking: Opulence doesn't necessarily mean gender equality.
I have brought along a 'burkha' with me, but even after we exit the airport and arrive at the Faisaliya Hotel, along one of the main boulevards of the city, no one asks me to put it on. The next morning, however, the management brings me a silky, embroidered black 'abaya' (as the 'burkha' is known in Saudi Arabia) with a polite suggestion that I may be "more comfortable" wearing it when I go out. "Comfortable?" I think. "In a 'burkha' that threatens to efface my personality and individuality?" I get the answer, but with a few surprises, over the next six days of my stay in Riyadh.
I am in the city as an invitee to an international award ceremony, conducted along the lines of the Nobel Prize, with prizes of $200,000, awarded annually to global achievers in science and medicine. At the lavishly decorated Prince Sultan Grand Ceremonial Hall, where the glittering ceremony is taking place, the women sit at separate tables. To my right is a woman who owns a large, flower importing business and, beside her, a woman who teaches economics at the university. On my left sits a woman, who heads a large NGO in Jeddah, spends part of the year in New York and was "a close friend of JRD Tata". Next to her is a young journalist, and completing the group at our table is a wealthy heiress, just back from her Swiss holiday. All are dressed in black 'abayas'. When the TV cameras pan towards our table, the young, exquisitely made-up businesswoman quickly draws her veil across her face, turns to me and says, "Tell me when the camera is off." She, like
all the women at my table, speaks beautiful English. Why does she want to cover her face, I ask. "You wouldn't like to hitch up your sari and show your leg, right? Similarly, I don't like strangers staring at my face," she says.
The women sitting beside me have perfectly manicured hands, painted nails, matching glossy lipstick and eye shadow. If you put these on, I ask, doesn't the 'abaya' smother it all? The economics professor retorts, "Not at all. I put it on for my pleasure, just as I eat delicacies for my personal pleasure. I am not putting on make-up to attract men." So, are the western and eastern sexist norms merely variations of the commodification of women?
"You know," adds the heiress from Jeddah, "in the West, I have seen women dressed in near-identical business suits, at formal events. Is that any different?" For these women, the 'abaya' makes no difference.
And surprisingly, it somewhat feels the same way once I wear mine. Initially, I am resentful; thereafter it doesn't matter. In Riyadh there is air-conditioning everywhere - including in the taxis - and I don't feel hot under the extra layer of the veil.
The next morning as our group gathers, the wife of the award winner for medicine, who is an American, declares that she feels "comfortable" in her 'abaya'; "I don't have to worry about my crumpled skirt," she jokes. That day, we visit the national museum, the university and a medical hospital-cum-research centre. And even at the centre, there are women, dressed in, what else, but the 'abaya', engaged in great scientific experiments and using hitech equipment.
Another day, I decide to stroll through the gold market (just like the Zaveri Bazar in Mumbai but much grander) and pay a visit to the nearby mall. I am free to move around and no one restricts my entry anywhere. That day, I also discover first-hand that young Saudi girls have their own strategies to grab some fun despite the seclusion - every girl is equipped with a sophisticated mobile, and via the cellphone lots of banter with young men goes on, including courtship. As I sit in the segregated women's area in the mall, I watch in silent fascination, as a teenage girl sits down, whips out her mobile. Trust modern technology - and youthful ingenuity - to circumvent restrictions! Does she like wearing the 'abaya', I ask. She swiftly replies, "It's like having to wear underwear, because it is considered 'decent'. Perhaps Serena Williams would play faster
if she wore a bikini, but she doesn't, right?"
On our last day we are taken on a desert safari, where there is no segregation. Though clad in the mandatory 'abaya', I sit with a mixed group - men and women. It reminds me of a dinner party I had attended at the rich and opulent mansion of a conservative business family at Malabar Hill, Mumbai. There, imported drinks flowed freely for the men seated in the drawing room, but the daughter-in-law (clad in an expensive designer sari) attended to the guests with her 'ghoonghat' (the end of the sari used to cover the head) drawn decorously over her expensive, salon-maintained hair. "The 'ghoonghat' is to show respect to elders, which is part of our culture, why should I rebel?" she had retorted when I questioned her about her reaction to the conservative norms imposed by her in-laws.
So, I come to the conclusion that sexist codes that treat the female differently exist everywhere and in all cultures, only their manifestations differ. Take, for example, the fact that last year thousands of girls in the 'modern' West chose, for their graduation present, breast enhancement surgery paid for by parents.
Here's a poser for feminist analysis - how is this version of sexist social pressures any better than the mandatory covering of the female body? Why do we see less indignation over one set of socio-cultural norms, and more over the other?
Even at the dinner hosted by the genial Indian ambassador, M.O.H. Farookh, at his residence in the exclusive diplomatic enclave, the wives of the local Indian officials sit separately. Why? "Just by habit," they say. At dinner, however, men and women eat together.
So, at the end of six days of wearing an 'abaya', I ask myself whether the dress code made a difference. The truthful answer (which comes even to my feminist sensibilities as a surprise) is that it didn't. Marginally, yes, because women cannot travel without a male escort, and so on, but in the words of Lakshmi, an Indian living in Riyadh "one is equally handicapped in Delhi because of the all-pervasive goondaism". As for obliterating my personality, I am what I am, regardless of dress. And 'abayas' need not - and apparently do not - consign women to drabness, unless they want to break through major male bastions.. Which is true of anywhere in the world.
I am glad I went. Even if I had to wear an 'abaya'.

Signalling improvement in defence ties between the two countries, two Saudi Arabian naval warships will arrive in India on their maiden visit Monday, a Indian Navy official said here Friday.
"The Saudi Arabian ships have been visiting Pakistan. But it is the first time that the country's warships are coming to India," the navy official said.
The two warships will arrive July 28 at Mumbai on a four-day friendly port call.
'The visit by the Saudi Navy ships is a result of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium organised by India recently. Saudi Arabia is an important country in the In
dian Ocean Rim and the port call is an indication how countries look at India in the emerging world scenario,' the official added.
Seventy-nine cadets of the Al Fahad Naval Academy will also be part of the entourage.
Saudi Arabia is considered a major ally of the US and most of its weapons platforms come from the West.

After tough negotiations with India, Saudi Arabia has decided to allow 4,000 more Indians to do the Haj this year. The number was decided following talks between King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
The increase in numbers, though far less than what the Indian government had asked for, is expected to win plaudits for the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government from the minority community.
Last month, Mukherjee and his deputy, E Ahamed, had visited Saudi Arabia to press for an increase in India's quota by at least 15,000. But the Saudis have partially accepted the demand. In fact, agencies managing the Haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia had asked the government to reduce India's participation because of paucity of accommodation.
During their visit last month, Mukherjee and Ahmed tried to impress upon the Saudis that every year the government received more than 200,000 applications and at least a part of this number should be allowed in.

There are four urgent research vacancies for Research Engineer/Research Associate/Post- Doctoral Fellowship at Centre for Renewable Energy, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in the area of Fuel Cells and Solar Energy (Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal Research). Minimum 5 years of experience after Ph.D. in PEM fuel cell and their components, membrane electrode assembly, catalyst layer design, bipolar plates, membrane preparation and testing in the fuel cell testing facility. Background in the electrochemical instruments such as electrical impedance analyzer, potentiometer, cyclic voltammeter etc.
Excellent record of publications, reports or patents in PEM fuel cell and membrane systems and bipolar plates.
Job Description: To lead a group of researchers to;
Establish a research laboratory to develop MEA, membranes, electrocatalyst and bipolar plates at KFUPM

One of my friend met an accident last week and admitted Al Mana Gen Hospital, Dammam, he is undergo major surgery on Saturday 12-04-08.
We urgently require A- (negative) blood donors at least 2 or 3 donors.
We requested to every kind heart brothers to inform and donate if available and also do remember him during your prayers for his speedy and permanent recovery.
I shall be very grateful if any of Dammam/Eastern Province in Saudi Arabia residing brothers will also inform to their friends to help and save life while donating their A- blood group.
I, therefore, request all, pls. personally look into the matter and do the needful as quick as possible for the cause of Allah.
