This email is in reference to Crescent School located in Pondicherry in the southern part of India 160 kms from Chennai run by Syedia Charitable Trust. This is the only school in and around Pondicherry which offers English medium education from Pre-KG to 8th STD (middle school) along with Islamic studies in English and Quran Hifz in an Islamic environment with best efforts in adhering to the Quran and Sunnah and aspiring to move to high school (9th and 10th). There has always been a big requirement for such a school in Pondicherry as it has a sizeable Muslim populace. Now there is Alhamdulillah a new and willing Administration for the school to fulfil this need.
Unfortunately, the school lacks basic amenities, which prevents Muslim parents from making the school a preferred choice of education for their children. We have made a lot of changes as far as academics are concerned including having a new set of qualified staff for regular subjects and Islamic Studies and qualified Alim for Quran Hifz and Arabic studies, but still unable to fulfil the infrastructural needs of the school.
The school presently has 240 children with a capacity to reach 300 children InshaAllah with approximately 25 children in each class if the infrastructural needs are fulfilled InshaAllah.
The following are some urgent requirements as of now which will help our cause InshaAllah:
1. To build 2 classrooms on the second floor with 5 toilets – Rs. 1,40,000.
2. To convert the present toilet area into 2 classrooms – Rs. 1,00,000
3. Construction of 10 to 12 new toilets – Rs. 50,000.
4. 7 computers and 1 printer – Rs. 80,000.
5. New drinking water area – Rs. 25,000.
6. Water purifier – Rs. 35,000.
7. Electronic Information Board – Rs. 15,000.
8. Furnishing with fans and light – Rs. 15,000.
9. Transport facility – Mahindra Maxi Cab – Rs. 2,50,000.
The school Alhamdulillah is striving in the way of Allah with best possible efforts and is very much eligible for Zakaat and Sadaqah as well. The fee structure is nominal and only between Rs. 300 and Rs. 400 per month, sufficient enough to pay the staff and handle expenses and exceptions are also made for parents with lower income.
